Business & Economic
Development Department
The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce is committed to the business success of our
members and through our Business and Economic Development
Department- the goal is to harness the power of available resources to help
guide members along the pathway to success.
The DBCC offers an array of services, ranging from referrals to technical assistance,
mentoring and networking events all geared toward making members more competitive in
the marketplace. Through our monthly meetings, small business members are matched with
area corporate representatives to discuss existing opportunities.
Convention & Tourism Department
The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Department's function is to
develop relationships with meeting planners, prepare promotional materials and other
resources necessary to attract African American conventions and visitors to Dallas -- to
increase the economic opportunities created by conventions and visitors for DBCC member
businesses and to provide support for these groups while they are in Dallas. Our
convention and tourism department is available to help plan your convention, meeting or
event. Some of the other services provided through convention and tourism include media
contacts, professional services, registration assistance, community events calendar,
minority business contacts, city maps and brochures on area attractions.
Education Department
The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce Excellence in
Education Department is designed to enhance the educational, cultural and
social experiences of students in the Dallas Public Schools. The program is structured to
have a positive impact on the attitudes, values and behaviors necessary for student
success, in and out of the classroom. Excellence in Education formerly known as Excell
Plus, was established in December 1986 as a business/education partnership between the
Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and Dallas Public Schools. The Program has successfully
impacted over 10,000 students. A major component of the Excellence in Education Initiative
is the Church/School Partnership Program. The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce along with
Dallas Public Schools developed a cadre of churches, schools and businesses actively
participating in the success of students. The cooperative and collaborative effort between
church, school and community will assist each entity toward accomplishing its
respective missions.

The M.L.K., Jr. Main Street Program serves as a liaison to city government
regarding issues that affect South Dallas/Fair Park, facilitates communications to keep
business and property owners, retailers and investors informed of activities, issues and
developments impacting the area. The Main Street Program serves as a unifying factor to
encourage reinvestment in South Dallas/Fair Park. The Main Street Program is a State
of Texas initiative managed through the City of Dallas.
Special Projects Department

implements special events designed to increase the exposure of the Chamber while providing
funds to subsidize programs offered to our members at no cost. The objective of the Dallas
Black Chamber's Special Projects Department is to increase the awareness and involvement
of African American businesses and area corporations in activities supporting the efforts
